Eva Longoria At the Premiere Of “Harsh Times"

Bauer Martinez Distribution snatched up "Harsh Times," one of the most buzzed about films at the Toronto Film Festival, for a cool $4 million. Bauer Martinez intends to release the gritty drama in March.

Though the film was praised by audiences at the festival, it wasn't exactly the easiest movie to sell. After making the deal, CEO Philippe Martinez told The Hollywood Reporter, "It has a strong commercial appeal and an even stronger critical appeal. Every movie is challenging to distribute, but this movie is worth it."

Starring the red-hot Christian Bale ("Batman Begins") as Jim, a Gulf War veteran, and Freddy Rodriguez ("Six Feet Under") as Mike, a computer programmer who is currently unemployed, "Harsh Times" follows the dangerous exploits of the two friends as they seek out excitement in South Central Los Angeles.

David Ayer ("Training Day") wrote the script and made his directorial debut with the film.
